Do You Have Broken Tiles on Your Roof?

Access Maintenance Solutions have been operating for over 40 years. Our longevity stems from a constant striving to provide the best service possible. During a period of time as long as 40 years any industry goes through changes, and high access roofing and steeplejacking is no different. This means to keep up we have to evolve with the times.

One thing we like to do is to pass on some of the things we have learned over the years. This is why this post is dedicated to how to spot a small issue, before it becomes a larger one. In this particular case we want to look at how to spot if a roof tile is broken.

Tiles are a very popular choice of roofing material. One reason is that they simply look good. Roofing tiles come in a variety of designs, shapes and colours. This means you can ensure your tiles match your taste exactly. They are also very good from a practical standpoint. A well-built tiled roof can last up to 100 years.

This is not to say that they are indestructible though, and things do go wrong. But how can you tell?

One of the simplest ways is an easy visual inspection. Tiles are uniform in nature, so stood across the street, possibly using binoculars if you have them, it should be easy to notice if one is damaged or missing.

Another sign that a tile may have been damaged for a while is if there are dark, damp spots on the ceiling or walls of your property. This is an obvious indication that your roof is no longer water tight, the most obvious cause of which is a damaged tile.

Another obvious sign is if when in the attic you can see daylight.

If you are experiencing issues and suspect a tile may be broken then don’t hesitate to contact Access Maintenance Solutions. We are based just outside of Leeds and service the enter Yorkshire region. We have over 40 years’ experience working on high access for both domestic and commercial jobs.
